Feeling depressed, sad, or down and out like they can't go on anymore; isn't what would motivate one to go blowing everyone else up (in the way someone jumping out a window or off a bridge would be). They want to take others with them; this sort of sting denies them that opportunity, so that if they die; then in their own twisted logic they won't have performed the jihad they intended; hence no reward or whatever they think blowing people will earn them "on the other side".

Getting caught in a sting, or having their life ended, without having committed an act of jihad isn't what they want. They don't just want to die; they want to make sure others go with them. I agree with everything you posted except for the comment how FDR manipulated the American people into a war. Are you talking about the Lend/Lease deal? That deal had to be done, otherwise Great Britain would have fallen. The rest of Europe, the mideast and Africa would have been under Nazi rule.

North America would have been next. A U-Boat sunk a ferry called the Caribou that was carrying Canadian troops from Newfoundland which was at the time a colony of GB to the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, hundreds died in that attack. U- Boats sank 2 ore carriers that were waiting to take on iron ore from a island called Bell Island just a few miles away from the main part of Newfoundland. A 1940's German weather station was found on the coast of Labrador in the 1980's...proof that Germany was scouting and doing recon for the possible invasion of North America. This part of the world did not have a large population present during this time period, so it would have been relatively easy for Germany to infest the area with shock troops and seize the airport at Goose Bay or the Royal Air Force's Ferry Command staging point at Gander, Newfoundland.

That said, if the FBI can talk a guy into strapping on vest and walking to the Capitol, some other more nefarious entity could have talked this guy into doing it, too. I find it oddly convenient that every terror plot in the US that we hear about was actually a FBI sting...
In either case the terrorists are hardly a threat to us and I do not understand why we are so scared of them. They managed 1 successful attack on the US in 10 years.
