Cops: Woman arranged for daughter to fight with another girl, cheered her on

A Florida mother is arrested after she is accused of setting up a fight between her daughter and another teen. WESH's Todd Wilson reports.

ORLANDO, Fla -- Police have arrested a mother after WESH 2 News aired video of a fight between her daughter and another teen.

Video sent to WESH shows two teen girls walking to the middle of a field. The girls then swing at each other and pull one another's hair. They eventually fall to the ground and continue fighting.

Throughout the fight, they are egged on by several teenagers and an adult.

Orange County Corrections Department

Sandra Padilla Miranda is seen in a booking shot provided by law enforcement authorities.

WESH 2 News showed the video to Orlando police, who said the adult woman in the video is Sandra Padilla Miranda.

Police believe she is the parent of one of the girls. She was arrested Thursday afternoon.

'Bite her'
"(She) basically set up a fight for her daughter,” said Sgt. Vince Ogburn of the Orlando Police Department. “The mother arranged the fight. Unfortunately the girls agreed to have this fight." Ogburn said Padilla Miranda could be heard on the video in Spanish telling her daughter to "hit harder" and "bite her."

Ogburn said Padilla Miranda told investigators she had no way of stopping the fight.

"Someone was holding her back as the reason why she couldn't stop the fight, and clearly you can see in your video, that no one was attempting to hold her back at all," Ogburn said.

Padilla Miranda told investigators that she set up the fight to stop the girls from fighting at Boone High School.

Neighbor talks
While there was no answer at Padilla Miranda's house Thursday, a friend of the family, Cely Bruno, shared her thoughts about the fight.

"I got a kid myself, you feel me? And if I see my kid on the floor getting beat while there's mad kids out there, God knows what could happen to my daughter. I would have been like, 'Go ahead, do your thing,'" Bruno said.

A fight to end fighting. Guess that's like using water to stop a flood. WTF?

They should throw the mother in prison and post flyers with her picture in every ghetto in the country. This mentality is commonly shared from parents to children in lowlife communities. Make an example out of her, these people are ANIMALS

I'm a grown up child of the ghetto lowlife communities (Detroit) and my parents would have never allowed something as inappropriate and ignorant as this woman did. That person has bad judgement but the people living in the ghetto are not all animals. There are a lot of GOOD people raising families in the ghetto because that is where they can afford to live and don't start the whole welfare argument because we were NOT raised on welfare- my Dad is retired AF, owned his own trucking company and my mother stayed home to raise us. There are whole neighborhoods in the ghetto with blue class WORKING families that have morals, values and integrity.

Was Mama on something? She looks strung out. And I'd just as soon recognize her involvement with a chemical elixir than say a sane, sober adult arranged a fight with her own kid.

She's got the intellect of a box of hair.

Jakester, are you from the gheto? Did you get your arse kicked while growing up in the gheto? You seem to know an awfull lot about the gheto from your computer desk. I know, I know, google has answers for every question and everything. But I don't recall googling low-life or animals and getting ghetto. Jakester maybe, but certainly not ghetto.

Only one question about the fight, did clothes come off? And that mug shot is not of a female, I'm almost 99% certain its a dude.

calm down "JUSTAMOMA" and "the punisher", I never said no good people are from the ghetto. Nor did I say they are ALL animals that would be stereotyping a whole community (which is ignorant). I also never assume someone got beat up in the ghetto just because they lived in a major city and seen a LARGE number of lowlifes teaching kids how to be low lifes. Did you read my post even? I said its COMMON, If its not common explain why ghettos have higher crime rates!

Like it or not it happens in ghettos more so then suburbs, farmland , backwoods or anywhere else PERIOD

I have learned that the phrase "Stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason" is generally true. I have a rather racially diverse family, and all stereotypes have rung true so far. Guess which one has multiple baby-daddies and lives in the projects? Even myself, I am a typical German stereotype: Hostile, Cold, Methodical, and so on...

Criminals love to say "rat fink snitch." No matter how macho they act they are all scared little kids. They are afraid of going to jail or paying for their crime.

I remember when I was a kid - the bullies would start to cry and whine like a spoiled brat when you said you were going to get a teacher.

Lucky for the criminals real people obey the law that criminals hide behind once they are caught.

Why does this need to turn racial? There have been stories like this before with white, black, and spanish kids.

Hell, remember the white parents who videotaped their kids fighting and the mother told them (on the video) if they didn't do it, she would beat them?

So let's stop the disparaging racial crap. Stupid parents come in all shapes and colors.

Yesterday, I was trying to eat. Two little boys, about 9 and 11, were trying to ask me a stupid question, so I told them to just let me eat. Their mother told me I was rude. She said that they were just trying to ask me a question, but a dozen people were standing around that they could have queried too. I told her that she was teaching them to be rude, but they all just started fighting with me. Though for a fact there was not one single thing for me to help them with. They were all white.

            child endangerment comes to mind.

Better to let them duke it out, then someone getting shot.

...yeah, umm. no. It's not like they sign an agreement not to shoot each other that gets notarized and filed in the hall of thug records to be presided over and enforced by the council of responsible citizens of the hood.

the way it works is: they fight, then someone comes back with a gun. Fighting resolves one thing: the issue of who's a better fighter. It doesn't resolve the issue of who's a better shot.

The way to combat this is easy:

              -- Tax Cuts

-- Reduce economic opportunities (Free Trade Job Outsourcing, a la Clinton with NAFTA and Obama w/ South Korea in 2011)

-- Reduce educational opportunities / reduce education system to a series of tests - discard any attempts at teaching critical thinking / socio-political skills

-- Reduce social programs and embrace a mentality of the Jungle (Dog eat Dog)

See fights should be allowed, and let them be recorded that way there is no dirty fighting. Since people these days have so many anger issues, they should be able to iron out their differences through fighting, maybe then these kids will grow some balls and not resort to other violence.

Agreed, parenting fail. The better thing to do would be to hand her over to a martial arts instructor. She could learn defensive martial techniques, self-control, self-respect, and how to walk away from a fight. Telling her it's okay to solve her issues with her fists is a one-way ticket to jail. What's that mother going to say when her daughter assaults someone and gets five to ten? "I didn't raise her that way, it's the other person's fault for making her mad"?

This is Orlando for you. It's trashville coated with a sheen of transiency. You know how some people who have never been to NYC think New Yorkers are rude? But then when you go there you find out most of the people are really great? Yeah, well Orlando is the melodramatic version of that - you get there and everybody is just as bad as you imagined. Store clerks there will treat you like "how DARE you come buy something at MY counter!" As far as the drivers are concerned, nobody else is on their highway and if you are they will make sure you aren't welcome. if you like nightclubs that reek of vomit, this is the place.

I've been to most big and larger cities in the USA, and I have to say that by far Orlando is the worst of them. The only reason it's such a big vacation destination is the tourist areas are very insulated.

On our local radio station, we had a bit about outlandishly BIZARRE arrest reports called: "Florida, not like the rest of us!".

                  Did anyone actually understand this?

You're a believer? I think you want the story on the high school girl fighting for our constitutional rights.

This piece doesn't give the details of what led up to the fight, but I personally don't think, verbal encouragement aside, the mother is in the wrong. I had been tormented by a bully in school for years. I decided it was going to be "me or her." I knew that if I didn't stand up for myself, I'd never be left alone. One day after school, with my parents permission, I confronted the bully at her home. I waited until after school to fight this girl so it wouldn't affect my school record. My adult aunt went with me to the girls home, not to egg me on but to ensure that it was a fair fight, as the bully had older siblings that would be home. My aunt wanted to make sure I only had to fight the bully, not the whole family. I remember that day like it was yesterday. The fight ended up in a draw, but the girl left me alone after that. My parents and aunt did not want me to fight the girl, but they knew it was something I had to do to survive the last few years of high school. Was my aunt wrong in standing by while we fought? I don't think so. She didn't break any laws and neither did this mother.

Similar situation... I was in the 7th grade and was being bullied by this mean fat girl. I didn't wait til after school though. One day she was bullying me in the hallway as usual but this time I just punched her right in the face. She was so shocked she didn't even hit me back. The school did not suspend me because students confirmed that I was "defending" myself. This chick was a known bully. She never picked on me or my friends again.

You were two children acting your problem out - in lieu of any real intelligent adult intervention. It is really just a little silly to say that what you did is just like the mother staging a fight with her child.

I was just wondering 'WTH is wrong with kids anymore?!' (Yes, I'm having an Old Fart moment....) Then I read this.

                    ::eyeroll::

                    Guess that answers my question.

                    I remember this happening in the play grounds all the time so other kids would not jump in but it was your friends and brothers doing it and it was between boys. You feel me! I think I even saw this on Leave It To Beaver ;-}

So if someone is punking your child your going to teach them to walk away & talk it out?! What do you do if that doesn't work, let me guess get the parents involved? That just escalates the situation. This mother is clearly wrong for setting up the fight however I have told my children defend yourself when necessary & if that means getting physical so be it. This entitlement generation needs the get their a** whipped maybe there wouldn't be as much bullying crap going on!

This trashy broad exemplifies what Low life, Low class, brain dead, gutter trash "thinks and acts like".

There are dozens of rational, common sense and very legal ways to permanently control any situation like this,s but for those concepts escape the Low life, Low class, brain dead, gutter trash but they require a strange thing commonly known as THINKING and actually using your mind.

This Low life, Low class, brain dead, gutter trash and her children are doomed to living their lives like this forever.

...a friend of the family, Cely Bruno, shared her thoughts about the fight. "I got a kid myself, you feel me? And if I see my kid on the floor getting beat while there's mad kids out there, God knows what could happen to my daughter. I would have been like, 'Go ahead, do your thing,'" Bruno said.

So we should expect to see this lady in the news shortly for the same thing. Animals.
