Police: Illinois killer of 4 left note before suicide

CHICAGO -- A 42-year-old man gunned down his girlfriend, her two sons and a niece as they slept in their beds early Tuesday before setting their home ablaze and driving to his father's home, where he killed himself, officials said.

The body of Cedric Anderson was found in an apartment in Dolton, hours after a fire ravaged a home near Villa Park, said Tom Ahern, spokesman for the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agency.

The victims were: Ursula Nailor, 37; her sons, Darnell Holt, 16, and Dan Nailor, 13; and her 19-year-old niece, Dominique Robinson.

Ahern told the Chicago Sun-Times Anderson left a suicide note saying he was distraught, but did not claim responsibility for the killings.

According to Cook County court records, Anderson had a lengthy criminal record and was waiting for his sentencing in March on a drug offense, The Chicago Tribune reported.

Neighbor Myron Bendara told NBCChicago.com that Nailor and the children had lived in the home for about three years.

"When I walked out this morning all I saw was billowing smoke out of the structure. There was no flames of any kind that I could see," he said.

The fire was contained in the house with only broken windows and a hole in the roof visible from outside.

DuPage County officials investigating the fire sent in accelerant-sniffing dogs to look for gas or kerosene that may have spread the fire more quickly throughout the home.

Nailor’s boss, Ed Peterson, told NBCChicago.com he started to get worried when Nailor failed to show up for her job as a school bus driver. She had worked for his company, Falcon Transportation, driving Chicago schoolkids from Newberry and Brown schools since 2006.

She was an exemplary worker and mom, he said.

"She talked about her teenage boys all the time," he said. "It’s a tragedy."

I wish animals like this would PLEASE reverse the sequence of events.

Blow your own brains out... then everyone else has the rest of their lives to live.

And to the anti-gun fanatics that will come out of the woodwork.

The man had a "lenghty criminal record" and was waiting for additional sentencing on other charges. Obviously he was such an upright citizen, he of course obeyed the law regarding illegal firearms possession by FELONS.

When ALL criminals are disarmed and rendered incapable of doing harm in ANY way to my family, friends, neighbors, or even strangers incapable of defending themsleves, and of course myself, then and only then will I consider giving up my firearms. Obviously that will never happen, ergo, my not having firearms will NEVER happen.

Have at it trolls....

How many times have you tried?? They said banning smoking would never work and would put every bar and restaurant out of business. Guess what, life went on with no smoking in public.

    WilliamOfRites.....

You must work in the media... you take something out of context and question it.

    Here's what I said above...

Obviously that will never happen, ergo, my not having firearms will NEVER happen.

    Now to answer YOUR question.

I've NEVER "tried". Primarily because the CRIMINALS are armed and dangerous. Now, I ask you, WHAT is it about that statement that YOU don't understand?

Word to the ladies - Why would an "exemplary worker and mom" need to be dating a thug like this? It is, indeed, a tragedy. You have two teen-aged boys you're crazy about and you bring around a man with "a lengthy criminal record" who is "waiting for his sentencing in March on a drug offense"??? WHAT were you THINKING? Sympathy to the families who are hurting...but ladies... Wise up, 'kay?

My thoughts exactly. I am currently taking a class on child abuse recognition and investigation and not that this is news, but the majority of the time the abuser is the boyfriend or girlfriend of the parent. If a guy (or gal) has a criminal record of any sort he is not worth your time unless you do not have children to worry about, then it is only your life you are ruining. You cannot change him (or her) and you cannot trust him (or her) so stay away from him (or her).

Condolences to the family that lost their loved ones.

With the elimination of the MIDDLE class, there will be dire conflict between the halves and the halve-not. If passage to the next class level is PERCEIVED as being BLOCKED by the "upper class", there will be violence. Any sociologist or economist will tell you it is getting very close to that situation. Money "buys" votes via "Superpacs" in our political system and the upper class has the money. We still have the most important thing in a democratic society---the VOTE. Be careful who you vote for and influence by. Study the issues carefully and by all means VOTE.

          Drugs kill.

Mind altering drugs for WEAK people, (legal AND illegal), are causing folks to commit suicide. The weaker ones don't want to go alone.

Millions of people do drugs, legal and illegal, and do not commit any other crimes or harm anyone (but themselves). Sure drugs are bad, alcohol is bad, cigarettes are bad, hell even Tylenol is bad (it does serious liver damage when combined with alchohol). However in this case this one man was bad, and he could have been drug-free, clean and sober, but he would still have been bad, it is a psychological problem; something missing or broken, that causes these kinds of things, the drugs may have exacerbated it, but it was there before the drugs and would be there after if he sobered up.

Harm anyone but themselves. The UN, according to Narco terror.org, says that illegal drugs are a 400 billion a year enterprise. How many killed in Mexico thanks to drug cartels funded by people that do no harm to anyone but themselves?

I doubt he was drug free. He was on his way to jail for drugs.

What a coward. While it would have been nice for him to take a practice shot at himself before he shot the four victims, at least we won't have to provide him with shelter, food, or clothing.
