Hate letters sent to Latino families in Texas

The Garland Police Department in Texas needs the public’s helping finding the person sending threatening and racially charged letters to Latino families. The police have received four reports of the letters being sent out since this past weekend.

"The thing that concerns us is that these letters were sent to their home, it has threatening language in it, and it’s directed towards Latinos," said Officer Joe Harn of the Garland police. Garland is northeast of Dallas.

One woman, who did not want to be identified, received a letter in her mailbox. She said it was addressed to her family, but there was no name or return address on the envelope.

She said she fears for her safety. “Scared. Scared about this letter, you know? Scared they’re going to come and do what they say, you know? I’m very scared.”

She said the letter told her to “leave the country now” and contained racially disparaging remarks as well as expletives.

“I want this to stop, you know? We’re all people, we’re all humans,” she said.

Police said whoever is writing the letters is sending them to the Buckingham and Lavon area in Garland. Police consider that offense harassment by writing and can carry a charge of a Class B Misdemeanor, up to a felony.

“We have talked with the FBI about this;we don’t know if it’s going to rise to the federal level, but certainly, we take it very seriously,” added Harn.

Police encourage other residents who have received similar letters to come forward and call them at 972-272-TIPS. Anyone with information about the letter writer can also call the tip line.

Just ask Arizona to lend out Sheriff Joe Arpaio to investigate. I am sure he'd get to the bottom of it. Oh, wait, he maybe the person sending out the emails.

Never mind... :)

Want to see who is spreading bigotry and hatred? Look in the mirror. It will be the face looking back at you.

    From the Article - "

“I want this to stop, you know? We’re all people, we’re all humans,” she said."

Funny, she doesn't say anything about being a legal resident or a citizen. Seems like you would mention that after getting "leave the country" mail, don't you think? Is somebody sending hate mail to "Latino Families", or is somebody sending hate mail to "Illegal Immigrant Latino Families? There's a world of difference. Nobody deserves hate mail (kind of) but let's report HONESTLY.

Oh well, let's use our tax dollars to provide an investigation of this, taxes she probably doesn't pay and services we pay for that she definitely makes use of. *sigh* Don't worry, we taxpayers can afford unlimited services for illegal aliens. No wonder people become frustrated.

Our immigration policy in macrocosm. AFU'd. And bearing no relation whatsoever to the good laws already on the books.

    Alil -

Don't be so thick. The person receiving the letter didn't write the article. If the reporter wanted to address their legal status, they would have. What's more, if the gov't cared about legal status the victims would be too scared to report it to the cops in the first place for fear that ICE would be at their door.

Let's say that narrow-minded, assuming theory were correct and these people weren't just a target of bigotry and racism. You can only blame illegals to a certain point, when our gov't are the ones enabling them by ignoring the situation.

      I don't feel very thick.....?????

Of course our govt policies of non-enforcement are terrible. Still, our Govt didn't go and kidnap her from wherever she was and force her to come here. I'd like to know her legal status. Just as I wonder about the legal status of all the people I read about commiting crimes. I wonder if she's receiving any assistance on my tax dollars. I wonder if she sends her children to US schools, hey look! It's all FREE! Wow, even lunch! I wonder if she engages in income tax evasion and identity theft. Yes, I wonder about all of these things. I feel they are pertinent to the story.

As I stated in my previous post " Is somebody sending hate mail to "Latino Families", or is somebody sending hate mail to "Illegal Immigrant Latino Families? There's a world of difference. Nobody deserves hate mail (kind of) but let's report HONESTLY."

This just seems like another "whip up the crowd" fluff piece without any actual details. If somebody were sending me hate mail because I stole their kids bicycle, would that be relevant to the article? Of course it would.

Why don't Canadians get the hate mail?

That's simple. It would actually require brain-wave activity to determine which Canadians were illegals.

The Canadians I have meant (and there have been hundreds through the years) are here legally.

Of course, the color of someone's skin is not a reason for this type of abhorent behavior. The person sending the hate mail is just as much a criminal as the illegals in this country.

She is correct, we are all humans, except maybe the numb skulls that sent the messages.

The idiots who sent the messages need to direct their anger in the right direction, and that would be directly at the politicians in DC. Their failure to enforce our immigration policies, and specifically those that deal with the people who hire illegals, is a significant cause of this problem. If the Feds would start fining everyone who hires an illegal, eventually no one would hire one. They would have no incentive to stay here or come here in the first place.

Sure you do, bud. Like a Texas cop cares if Latinos are being targeted for hate crimes.

Let me guess, your only experience of Texas is watching John Wayne movies. Half of the cops in Garland are Mexican. Why don't you take your inflammatory crap and crawl back under your rock?

Your in America now, send them some hate mail too... Who cares.., this is the land of the Free and Home of the NATIVE INDIANS, technically, ALL OF US NEED TO GO BACK HOME.

It was only a matter of time. People are loosing it over all the cries of racism regarding the illegal situation. The Governments have been no help in cooling it off as they throw open their arms to embrace invaders of American soil. Acknowledgement and enforcement of immigration laws is the only real cure but then as La Raza is always crying, it would be racist to turn back illegal Foreign Nationals if they come from Mexico or central America.

When something is so obvious and obtuse as the opinion of thatmentality21,you deserve a kick in the crotch. Why not wonder about the man in the moon.America exists. Now the fact that genocide, spread of disease ,and war made the United States of America makes it pretty much run of the mill as far as countrys go.What makes it amazing is everything-.It IS a process though. So saying we have equality here means you can say it isn't total, likewise with equality for women,or anything else.It has come father here in this time than any culture ever. At one time this was Mexican land, but not for a long time.Tens if not hundreds of millions of people resent our govts ineptitude at doing what it is supposed to do.One of its' primary charges is to defend this land, our borders. That some people would go too far and send hate mail would be extraordinary only if it didn't happen.

This is what happens I guess when people feel their govt is letting them down. Illegal immigration is a huge problem. Only our US Govt and the corporations think otherwise.
