Men answering rental ad find child, 4, with dad's body

By King 5 News and msnbc.com staff

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Two men who knocked on a Bellevue door answering a Craigslist ad for a room to rent instead found a dead man inside.

The men had approached the home in a subrub of Seattle on Saturday. A 4-year-old boy answered the door crying, saying he couldn't wake up his dad.

The men took the boy to a neighbor's house and said they would go check on the boy's father. They went back to the residence and found the man's body and called 911.

Bellevue police said the man was in his 30s and appeared to have died of natural causes a couple of days ago.

Police said there were no signs of foul play, but they will investigate because of the unusual circumstances of the dad's death.

The boy's mother does not live at the home and was out of town Saturday, said police. Officers were able to locate the boy's grandparents and placed the boy in their care Saturday night.

Judd- Did you stop to think before you made such a horrible remark. Do you have any idea what that child suffered for a couple of days before someone came to the door? Did that child have any food or some water to drink durning that time? Was the child in the dark alone trying to wake the dad? You should think before you speak so next time you don't sound like a heartless person. Next time try and put yourself in that child's place and see how you feel.

Judd- That is one of the most heartless things a person could say. I hope that you remember what you have said when someone you love passes away. It's a tragedy that this little boy had to experience this.

Judd is just another troll, going online fishing for attention that he/she will never get in their day-to-day.

A few years ago, my nephew and his wife had adopted an infant. Soon after the adoption, my nephew was recalled to the army and was at Ft. Bragg training to go overseas His wife had always suffered migraine headaches, and had to take shots in the head to relieve the pains. One morning, a telephone maintainence man went by the house and when the child, now 2 years old, opened the door, the man noticed the child was covered with blood, and notified the police. They entered the residence and found her dead in the floor where she had had a brain aneurysm and bled from the nose. The child, just learning to talk, said that he could not awaken his mother, and laid down beside her and went back to sleep, getting blood all over himself. True, the Lord doth work in strange ways.

Woooah woah woah there Just Me. I think you jumping on Judd that quick and harshly was un-called for. He was simply stating something that I personally think we all need to learn. Yes, it was a little blunt, but don't you think maybe that's what this world needs now a days? Too many people are worried about being "politically correct" and not hurting anybodies feelings that we've all turned into a bunch of sissies. You want to be hand fed everything and pretend like nothing wrong ever happens in the world, well hate to burst your little personal bubble, but stuff does happen like this all the time. We're not going to live forever, so live like you want to now while you still breath air into your lungs, because one day (and like this story proves it not always when you get old) you're going to pass on. Just another opinion.

veganator and judd you need to stop and think that is a baby not an adult. but you don't think as evidenced by your comments. Either you both are too young to have kids or you are at a point in your life where you know everything which means you are kids yourselves so grow up.

That is sad I hope the child recovers from this tragedy in time. What is considered natural causes for someone in their 30's?

I wonder if 'natural causes' means he was a diabetic who either forgot his insulin or forgot to eat. It's not the first time I've read about a child or children whose parent died and left them 'unable to wake them'. Poor little thing, what a horrible experience :(
